Matt Davis and I sit down with MT OPS in house camera man Keith Ailes and talk about our recent black bear hunt in BC with our good friends of primitive outfitters
Sidney Smith was born with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a disease which causes structural foot damage and muscle wasting through the leg. Sid made the tough choice to have both his legs amputated rather than spend the rest of his life in a wheel chair. While in the hospital he decided if he ever got out of there, he was going to compete in an Ironman Triathlon. We talk about how it felt when he woke up and both his legs were gone. How life has changed since then and how he is giving back to help someone else receive a new prosthetic leg. “CHALLENGES ARE WHAT MAKES LIFE INTERESTING
Every Day was a battle – Giving up was never an option. Born with Charcot-Marie-Tooth, a disease which causes structural foot deformities and muscle wasting throughout the leg, Sidney Smith refused to surrender. With a family to provide for and a desire to live life to its fullest, Sid made the decision to forego the risk of bone fusion in both legs and became a double amputee.”

On this episode of Gritty Bowmen, I sit down with “Blood Origins” founder Robbie Kroger. Robbie is kind of a big deal in the conservation world, but not as widely known in the hunting world. Robbie grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, one of the largest urban areas in the world. He did not hunt. Guns were banned. Hunting was just a bunch of stories and antlers on the wall. But, he had a hunting past that he could not deny. From that heritage grew an idea —Blood Origins, a way to connect the past with the present.
“When I look at the liberties afforded to you in the United States of America, I consider it incomprehensible. I am going to go out on a limb and say that this liberty is likely lost on most of you, that it is very often taken for granted. I say that only from a perspective of someone who came from a place where there was no opportunity to connect with something that pulsed within me.” —Robbie Kroger
